Statically setting ignition timing.

Find top dead centre and mark it on the stator and rotor on end of crank. Fit a timing disc or an old school protractor on end of crank. Make a wire pointer pointing to 0 put bike in top gear and rotate rear wheel backwards until you get to the full advanced position. On this bike it is 32° before tdc. Remove the disc. Make a second mark on the rotor next to the mark you made on the stator. This is the mark that should align with the stator mark using a strobe light and revving the engine to about 4 or 5,000 rpm.
